Global Warning

Global Warning! Online gambling is fun

At the time of writing this article, the United States prohibition on Internet gambling has been in effect for approximately seven months. However, judging by the fallout thus far in the game, and the winds of Congressional amendments already beginning to gather momentum, with particular regards to online gaming, it’s not inconceivable to assume that in the not-too-distant-future, online casino games will once again fill American gamblers’ hearts with yet more unadulterated glee. After all, casino gambling online is not going to simply disappear because a few Republicans are hell-bent on protecting their assets – specifically land-casinos, state lotteries and horse races etcetera, etcetera.

Dealing with America’s Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act
Some folks (we’ll call them ‘half empties’) are more pessimistic than most about the future of casino gambling online and other gambling venues in America, while others (the ‘half fulls’) are already gearing-up for what will be described as – among other things – a major “cash bash” once the restrictions placed on US banks and credit card companies are finally lifted.

Betting on individual liberties
This is not to say that the new American anti-gambling law prevents US residents from locating Web sites, which are ready, willing and able to accept gamblers’ money. Far from it. In fact, until the United States Department of Justice actually starts arresting loads of Average Joes, with the hopes of scaring off the literally millions of others from playing online casino games, by our estimates, prohibition’s odds of surviving over the next 2-3 years range between zero and zilch. It’s just a matter of time before the floodgates swing wide open and Americans are free at last once again to play their favourite wagering games (roulette, slots, craps, blackjack etc.), and enjoy the one-of-a-kind thrills derived from casino gambling online, legally!

European Union @ odds over gambling
Even if the US online gambling market fails to open up in the near future, major growth in other markets is already shifting into overdrive and fast picking up speed globally. While a number of European countries are embracing online casino gambling – namely the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy – other members of the EU are not. This is creating some debate within the European Union, whose guidelines require member-states to allow for the free flow of products and services from other EU members. This includes online casinos and poker rooms etc. How events in Europe will play out is also anyone’s guess.

Last but definitely not least is the Asian market, which is also being tapped vigorously with respect to both casino gambling online and traditional brick & mortar gaming establishments. In fact, China’s Special Administrative Region of Macao recently surpassed Las Vegas as the largest gambling center in the world. And the gaming’s only just begun.
